Effect of Kanendomycin (Aminodexykanamycin) on Surgical Infection



Abstract
Aminodexoykanamycin is a new antibiotic which shows strong antibacterial activity against both gram positive and negative organisms. We tried this new antibiotic on various stubborn surgical infections. The results were obtained as follows:
1. For the treatment of surgical infection, 400mg/day were injected for 5 days as sole antibiotic.
2. Eighty four patient were selected. The patients were consisting of 15 Teases of ruptured appendicitis, 24 cases of perforated petptic ulcer, 20 cases of postoperative wound infection, 10 cases of burn, and 15 cases of other grave surgical infections.
3. Among 15 ruptured appendix group, the results were 10 effective, ineffective 4, and undecided 1. 4. Among 24 cases of perforated peptic ulcer, the results were 13 effective, 11 ineffective. 5. Among 20 wound infection, 17 were effective and 3 were ineffective. 6. Among 10 burn patient, 5 were effective and remainder were ineffective. 7. Other infection showed 8 effective, 5 ineffective and 2 undecided.
8 Among 26 cas s of ineffective group, other antibiotics were tried, only 16(19%) patients wereeffecive on other antibiotics.
